Router Maintainance

Because of some unstable behavior in our main data router we will
will have a small outage while we load new firmware and reboot
the router.

Duration: 5-15 minutes

Affected Systems will be anything connecting to the Internet and most building to
building data communication.

[Unscheduled Outage] Central Storage Project

June 24, 2008 – 10:57 am

We are experiencing intermittent outages to the Central File share system that may be related to the recent upgrades.  We are currently on the phone with Microsoft premier support and trying to get a hold of the DELL technician that performed the upgrade.  We hope to have the instabilities resolved as soon as possible.

End date: Tuesday, 24th June 16:00

Primary services potentially affected: Central File Store Project, WebDAV shares, any share located under \\aggies.usu.edu\shares

[Scheduled Outage] Central Storage Project - June 21st

June 21, 2008 – 9:00 pm

As part of our contracted support agreement with DELL|EMC the Office of IT will be performing annual health checks and software updates to the Central Storage Project on Saturday June 21st and Sunday June 22nd. We expect the work being performed to be non-disruptive, however the potential exists that one or more operations may result in brief service interruptions or more likely brief periods of poor performance. We will limit those suspect operations to between 2100 and 2300 hours on Saturday.

End date: Saturday, 21st June 23:00

Primary services potentially affected: AGGIES Exchange, Central File Store Project, VMware Environment (all virtual machines)

[Unscheduled Outage] Blackboard Vista

The Utah Education Network domain (www.uen.org), which hosts Blackboard Vista, is experiencing some unexpected network downtime due to unforseen maintenance problems. The Blackboard site is currently accessible, but availability may remain intermittent as the problem is resolved.

[Scheduled Outage] Potential interruptions to the Internet

June 17, 2008 – 11:00 pm

Utah Education Network (UEN) will be performing routing table maintenance on all “points of presence” (POP’s) routers across the state tonight between 11pm and 2am. These changes may potentially cause interruptions to Internet access from both on and off-campus.

Start: TODAY, 11:00pm

End: Wednesday 18th June 2008, 2:00am

Services affected: Access to the Internet from all campuses, access to all campuses from off-site

[Resolved Outage] Blackboard Vista

May 31, 2008 – 11:30 am

Blackboard Vista experienced an unscheduled outage Saturday morning due to a faulty power strip. The outage appears to have lasted from about 5 am to 10:35 am. Once the problem was reported to the Utah Education Network, it was resolved quickly. The application appears to be up at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience the outage may have caused.

[Unscheduled Outage] Blackboard Vista

Start time: Approximately 1:30 am
ETA: No Estimate

Blackboard Vista is currently down due to a data center power outage at the Utah Education Network (UEN). All UEN services were affected. The outage occurred at about 1:30 am. Power was restored earlier this morning and UEN is working expeditiously to restore all services. At this point there is no estimate as to when Blackboard services will resume.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.

[Scheduled Outage] DC01.AUTH.USU.EDU rebuild

May 24, 2008 – 9:00 pm
On Saturday 24th May the Office of IT will be taking DC01.AUTH.USU.EDU offline for 48 hours to allow it to be wiped clean and rebuilt. This has become urgent and necessary as the available disk space on that server is dangerously low.

If you are a system administrator that utilizes the AUTH Active Directory for authentication, please take the time to switch your dependent services over to use DC02 prior to the outage. To maintain redundancy during this period a third DC “DC03″ will be built shortly.

There should be no interruption to services visible to students, staff or faculty.
